Overview
A clean optical path is essential for accurate and reliable Pro S printing. Dust, resin, smudges, or scratches on the optical glass or the underside of the resin tank can distort projected light and lead to failed or low-quality prints. This article explains how to properly clean and inspect these components.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following:
• Isopropyl alcohol (91 percent or higher)
• High-quality glass cleaner
• Microfiber cloth or non-abrasive shop towels
• Adequate lighting to inspect the optical surfaces
How to Clean the Optical Glass
-
Remove the Build Platform
- Remove the platform from the Z-axis arm and set it aside.
-
Remove the Resin Tank
- Unlock and lift the resin tank out of the cradle to expose the optical glass inside the printer.
-
Clean the Optical Glass on the Printer
- If any resin is present, wipe it with IPA first.
- Apply glass cleaner to a towel (never directly onto the printer).
- Wipe the optical glass thoroughly until smudge-free and dry.
-
Clean the Underside of the Resin Tank
- Inspect the bottom glass for fingerprints, dust, or residue.
- Apply glass cleaner to a towel and gently wipe the surface.
- Make sure the surface is completely clean and streak-free before reinstalling.
-
Inspect the Interior of the Resin Tank
- Look for dimples, scratches, or clouding on the plastic film.
- Replace the tank immediately if any damage is visible.
