Overview

The Pro S uses a magnetic locking mechanism to secure the build platform. If the red knob is stuck, spins freely, or no longer unlocks the platform, the magnetic lock may be worn or damaged. Customers should contact SprintRay Customer Support before replacing the part. Once a replacement is provided, follow the steps below.

When to Replace the Magnetic Platform Lock

• The red knob does not turn
• The knob spins endlessly without unlocking
• The build platform cannot be released
• Support has confirmed a replacement is required

How to Replace the Magnetic Platform Lock
 

1. Remove the Build Platform

• Unlock the build platform using the red knob.
• Pull the platform forward to remove it from the printer
 

2. Remove the Red Knob

• Pull the red knob straight upward to detach it.
 

3. Remove the Magnetic Lock Assembly

• Use a 2 mm hex wrench to remove the 4 screws securing the magnetic lock.
• Lift the assembly out of the printer.
 

4. Install the New Magnetic Lock

• Check the orientation of the new assembly.
• The UNLOCK label should face left.
• The notch should face toward you.
• Position the assembly in place.
 

5. Secure the Lock

• Reinstall the 4 screws using the 2 mm hex wrench.
 

6. Reinstall the Red Knob

• Press the knob onto the lock mechanism.
• The knob stem has a plus-shaped profile—ensure it aligns with the inside of the knob.
