Disabling your computer’s screen saver

You must make sure your screen saver is turned off and your computer's sleep mode is disabled before starting a print. If your screen saver turns on or your computer goes into sleep mode during a print, you will need to start your print from the beginning.

Use the instructions below to make sure your computer's screen saver and sleep mode are disabled. If you have difficulty following this instructions, you may need to consult the official website of the creator of your computer's operating system.

Disabling your screen saver on a Mac

  1. Open System Preferences by clicking on the icon in the dock or by opening Finder, clicking Applications, then clicking System Preferences.

  2. Click Desktop & Screen Saver.

  3. In the bottom left corner, after "Sleep after:", select Never from the drop down menu.

  4. Return to System Preferences, like you did in step one.

  5. Click Energy Saver, then click Power Adapter.

  6. Drag the marker after "Turn display off after:" to Never.

  7. If the phrase "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" is checked, uncheck it.

If there is a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the System Preferences pane, you may need to click it to unlock the settings.

Always keep your computer connected to a power source (plugged in) while printing.

Disabling your screen saver on a PC

  1. Click the Start Button, then click Control Panel.

  2. In the search box, type "screen saver", then click Turn screen saver on or off.

  3. In the Screen saver list, click (None), then click OK.

  4. Return to the Control Panel, like you did in step one.

  5. Click System and Security, then click Power Options.

  6. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings.

  7. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.

  8. Once you've reached the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, then double-click Sleep after.

  9. If you're using a laptop, click Plugged in, click the arrow, then click Never. If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, then click Never.

  10. Double-click Hibernate after.

  11. If you're using a laptop, click Plugged in, click the arrow, then click Never. If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, then click Never.

Always keep your computer connected to a power source (plugged in) while printing.
