Pro 2: Optical Panel

Understanding, maintaining, and replacing the Optical Panel on the SprintRay Pro 2.

Overview

The Optical Panel is a core component of the Pro 2 light engine, delivering high-precision 35 µm projection directly beneath the resin tank. Built from Corning Gorilla Glass and machined aluminum, the Optical Panel is designed for durability and accuracy. This guide explains what the Optical Panel does, how to maintain it, and how to replace it when needed.

What the Optical Panel Does

  • Provides 35 µm projection resolution for accurate, high-detail printing
  • Delivers 385 nm UV-A light directly to the resin tank
  • Maintains consistent cure depth across the entire build area
  • Includes onboard electronics that store performance data and communicate with the printer

The Optical Panel is modular and designed to be user-replaceable when prompted by the printer.

Keeping the Optical Panel Clean

Proper maintenance helps ensure print quality and prevents curing inconsistencies.

What to Avoid

  • Do not touch the lens beneath the panel.
  • Do not use abrasive cloths or unapproved cleaners.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure while cleaning.

How to Clean the Optical Panel

  1. Inspect the top surface for fingerprints, dust, or resin.
  2. Apply IPA 91 percent to a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
  3. Gently wipe the top surface of the Optical Panel.
  4. Apply a small amount of glass cleaner to a separate cloth.
  5. Wipe again to remove streaks and ensure a clear optical path.
  6. Ensure the surface is fully dry before printing.

Only the top surface should be cleaned. The internal lens and components should never be touched.

When to Replace the Optical Panel

The printer will notify you if the Optical Panel needs to be replaced. Replacement is only required when the system detects surface wear or performance degradation.

  • Signs that a replacement may be required:
  • Printer notification requesting replacement
  • Persistent print distortion that is not resolved by cleaning
  • Damage or deep scratches on the panel surface

How to Replace the Optical Panel

1. Unlock the Panel

  • Locate the four recessed tabs on the sides of the Optical Panel cradle.
  • Pull each tab outward to unlock the panel.

2. Remove the Panel

  • Slide the existing Optical Panel toward you.
  • Some resistance is normal due to the snug fit.

3. Install the New Panel

  • Slide the new Optical Panel into the cradle.
  • Push firmly until it sits flush with the front edge of the printer.

4. Lock the Panel

  • Close the four cradle tabs to secure the new panel.
  • If a tab does not close easily, reseat the panel and try again.
  • Do not use excessive force on the locking tabs.
