Overview
Before each print, a Midas resin capsule must be primed to mix the material inside. Proper priming ensures consistent print quality and helps prevent failures. This article explains how to prime a Midas capsule and what to expect once priming is complete.

Capsule Components
A Midas capsule consists of three key parts:
- White cylinder (outer body)
- Black cylinder (inner plunger)
- Capsule glass (bottom window)
When the capsule is new, only the white cylinder is visible. Some capsules may be Straumann-branded with a green label.
Before You Begin
Confirm the following before priming:
- The capsule matches the resin material required for the print.
- The resin is not expired.
- The safety film is still attached.
- The capsule glass has not been touched or contaminated.
- The capsule will be primed immediately before printing.
How to Prime a Midas Capsule
1. Prepare the Capsule
- Ensure the safety film is in place.
- Avoid touching the capsule glass to prevent contamination.
2. Begin Priming
- Hold the capsule upside down.
- Slowly press the white cylinder downward.
- The black cylinder will rise as pressure is applied.
- Stop once the top of the black cylinder becomes visible.
- Do not press further; excessive compression may introduce air bubbles.
3. Mix the Resin
- Press the black cylinder gently until it reaches the bottom.
- Repeat the full up-and-down motion 10 times to mix the resin thoroughly.
4. Final Position Check
- Confirm that the black cylinder is pressed completely to the bottom.
- The capsule is now mixed and ready for printing.
