Overview
Midas uses Digital Press Stereolithography (DPS), a patented printing method that replaces traditional resin bottles, resin tanks, and reusable build platforms with a sealed Resin Capsule. Each capsule contains the build platform, material, and press mechanism in one single-use unit.
This capsule-based workflow eliminates exposed resin handling while enabling highly-filled, high-viscosity composite printing for chairside restorations.

What Is a Midas Capsule?
A Midas Capsule is a self-contained printing unit that includes:

• Highly-filled restorative material
• Integrated build platform
• Pressurized resin chamber
• Optical window with safety film
• Embedded barcode for material and shade tracking
Before printing, each capsule is scanned to automatically detect:
• Material type
• Shade
• Lot number
• Expiration date
The printer then instructs where to place the capsule on the print glass. Midas supports printing up to three capsules in a single job.
How Digital Press Stereolithography (DPS) Works
Digital Press Stereolithography uses hydrodynamic principles to press viscous composite material into the build area while curing with 385 nm light.
During printing:
- The resin is pressed downward from the capsule.
- The build platform rises as the material cures.
- The restoration is formed with high filler content and minimal distortion.
Because the resin is actively pressed rather than relying on gravity flow, Midas is viscosity agnostic and capable of printing highly-filled restorative materials.

Capsule Types
There are two capsule formats available for Midas: Single Unit and Multi Unit.
Both use the same DPS technology and support the same restorative materials. The difference lies in build area and indication size.
Single Unit Capsule
The Single Unit Capsule is optimized for individual restorations and small-format printing.

Key Features
• Print up to three capsules simultaneously
• Designed for single-unit restorations
• Fast chairside workflow
• Ideal for high-throughput cases
Common Applications
• Posterior crowns
• Anterior crowns
• Implant crowns
• Inlays
• Onlays
• Veneers
The Single Unit Capsule is best suited for fast, chairside fabrication of individual restorations.
Multi Unit Capsule
The Multi Unit Capsule features more than 3x the build area of the Single Unit Capsule and is designed for large-format restorations.

Key Features
• Expanded build area
• Supports multi-unit and arch-based cases
• Same DPS high-viscosity capability
Common Applications
• Smile mock-ups
• Front six restorations
• Split front eight restorations
• Multi-unit bridges
• Temporary bridges
• Temporary implant bridges
The Multi Unit Capsule is ideal for extended restorations and bridge fabrication.

Use a Single Unit Capsule when: • Printing individual crowns or restorations |
Use a Multi Unit Capsule when: • Printing bridges |
Both capsule types:
• Use Digital Press Stereolithography
• Support highly-filled composite materials
• Require no resin tanks or reusable build platforms
• Use barcode scanning for automated setup
The choice depends on restoration size, not material capability.
