Files Needed for Design Submission

Different files are needed depending on the type of Treatment you have selected for the patient, as well as the type of intraoral scanner you are using.

Here is a breakdown of the Treatments we offer, and the necessary files required for each:

Occlusal Guards

Patient Files Needed

  • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) - A separate STL file for Bite/Occlusion scan is not required. However, a bite scan should be captured when scanning the patient.

Smile Design

  • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) - A separate STL file for Bite/Occlusion scan is not required. However, a bite scan should be captured when scanning the patient.

Bracket Removal

Implant Planning and Surgical Guide

  • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • CBCT scan in DICOM format, uploaded as a ZIP archive (Multi-file DICOM with .dcm extension format)
    • For edentulous patients, use the Dual Scan Protocol to capture two CBCT scans. Upload as a single ZIP archive

Crown and Bridge

  • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) - A separate STL file for Bite/Occlusion scan is not required. However, a bite scan should be captured when scanning the patient.

Custom Bleaching Trays

Removable Dentures

Patient Files Needed

  • Copy/Reference Denture:
    • Scan of existing denture exported as an STL file ("360" scan capturing all surfaces)
    • Scan of opposing arch as a separate STL file
    • Bite/Occlusion scan(s)as a separate STL file (denture should be in the mouth when capturing bite scan)
  • Immediate Denture
    • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
    • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
    • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) - A separate STL file for Bite/Occlusion scan is not required. However, a bite scan should be captured when scanning the patient.
  • New Denture For Edentulous Patient
    • Wax Rim Impression Scan as a separate STL file
    • Opposing Arch scan as a separate STL file
    • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) as a separate STL file (wax rim should be in patient’s mouth when capturing bite scan)

AI Nightguard

  • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) - A separate STL file for Bite/Occlusion scan is not required. However, a bite scan should be captured in occlusion when scanning the patient.

Hybrid Dentures

Patient Files Needed

  • Scan with the current appliance in the patient's mouth, capturing as much anatomy as possible around the current appliance, i.e. retromolar pad, tuberosities, buccal area
    • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
    • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Bite/Occlusion scan(s) for optimal results 
  • Tissue scans with healing caps seated over multi-unit abutments
    • Upper Arch scan as a separate STL file
    • Lower Arch scan as a separate STL file
  • Photogrammetry Data uploaded as a ZIP archive, including implant position files and STLs
  • Patient Photos
    • Rest position
    • High Smile Line
    • Retracted
